As with any software
package, the better the hardware specifications of the computer running the
software, the better the performance of the software will be. The same is true
of networks. Using a high-speed fibre optic network will be more reliable and
faster than an old 10mbps Ethernet network with one old hub.
However, the
following are the recommended minimum hardware requirements for
EduAdmin:
|
Workstations
Entry-level
Pentium (P4 recommended)
64MB of RAM
Hard Disk
Drive (1GB minimum)
100mbps
network card or equivalent according to your network architecture;
we do not advise making extensive use of EduAdmin over a 10mbps
network
UPS (backup
power supply - optional)
Mouse
Video card
capable of at least 800 x 600 resolution but preferably capable of
at least 1024 x 768 resolution
Windows 98,
2000 or XP; we have found Windows 2000 to be particularly stable; if
using Windows XP it is strongly recommended that all Service Packs
be installed, as well as all available patches and updates.

Server
Fast P4
At least 512MB

Large Hard

100mbps

we do not advise making extensive use of EduAdmin over a 10mbps
network
UPS (backup
power supply - mandatory)
Tape Backup or
CD Writer
Network
operating system; we have found Windows 2000 and 2003 Server to be
particularly stable (it is, however, strongly recommended that all
Service Packs be installed, as well as all patches and updates).
Windows XP cannot be used as a Server Operating System
