EduAdmin Training

To implement the enormous power and flexibility of the EduAdmin solution as an effective administration tool, it is essential that administrators and management are provided with the solution of access to effective training: training to ensure the ability to use the software to its full potential, training to keep those skills current and training to ensure a rapid implementation cycle. Training is geared towards providing the total solution to performing the administrative tasks on a daily, periodic or annual basis. EduAdmin works incredibly hard at servicing its customers with initiative, innovation and integrity, and its sincerity in this regard is truly the long-term differentiator.

Regional support managers are available for on-site training and support. On-site training and support attracts an additional fee, charged out per hour. Hours are calculated from the time of arrival at the school; travelling time is not included and usually no travelling costs are included.

Planning

It is important to plan carefully when selecting who is to attend EduAdmin training and what time-frames will be utilised. All too often, the wrong people attend the courses and the implementation of the program fails after the training has been attended. EduAdmin is unlike any other school administration software program in that it is customisable by the user. This means that the decision-makers must attend the training, not the operators. The operators can be taught in-house at a later stage.

The choice of who is to attend the training must also take cognisance of the level of computer literacy of the delegates. It is futile sending someone on an EduAdmin course if they are not familiar with Windows. The EduAdmin courses are largely conceptual. EduAdmin uses the computer to automate tedious functions. It never takes the decision-making away from management. This is consistent with the unique EduAdmin paradigm of never customising the program, but rather adding functionality.

As a guideline, we suggest the following steps:

Identify key (core) staff.

Map a timetable based on the suggestions below.

Identify other staff for in-house training.

The key staff are defined as follows:

Bursar The bursar is the decision-maker in respect of financial matters at the school. At some schools the bursar takes on more responsibility such as the general administration of the school. The bursar must at least attend the Financial module training. Other training to be attended is Quill, Query Wizard and Report Designer.
Counsellor The counsellor is the decision-maker in respect of counselling matters at the school. The counsellor must at least attend the Counselling module training. Other training to be attended is Quill, Query Wizard and Report Designer.
Director Of Activities The director of activities is defined as the person responsible for co-ordinating the extra curricula activities of the school. The director of activities must attend the Extra Curricula, Institution and Statistics module training. Other training to be attended is Quill, Query Wizard and Report Designer.
Director Of Development The director of development is defined as the person responsible for coordinating the alumni (old boys or old girls), archives, and marketing of the school. The director of development must attend the Archives and Statistics module training. Other training to be attended is Quill, Query Wizard and Report Designer.
Director Of Studies The director of studies is defined as the person responsible for co-ordinating the academic and curriculum activities at the school. The director of studies must attend the Assessment and Statistics module training. Many schools fail to implement this module seamlessly as the operators are left with the responsibility of making the decisions when they in fact do not have neither the training, qualifications nor authority to make these decisions. Other training to be attended is Quill, Query Wizard and Report Designer.
General Administration General administration is defined as Attendance, Boarding, Institution, Ministry, Staff and Student record-keeping. The person(s) responsible for this are usually secretaries. They should attend the Attendance, Boarding, Institution, Ministry, Staff, Statistics and Student module training. Other training to be attended is Quill, Query Wizard and Report Designer.
Librarian The librarian is defined as the person responsible for the media centre. The librarian must attend the Library and Statistics module training. Other training to be attended is Quill, Query Wizard and Report Designer.
Rector The rector is defined as the CEO of the school (sometimes called a principal, headmaster or director). The rector must attend the Ministry and Statistics module training.
System Administrator The system administrator is defined as the person responsible for administering the school's network. This person is likely to be most competent to understand the technical requirements to keep EduAdmin functional. The system administrator should attend all the courses and more specifically the Supervisor and Utilities courses. Other training to be attended is Quill, Query Wizard and Report Designer.
Time Tabler The person responsible for preparing the time table must attend the Time Tabler module training. This person must have had sufficient experience with time tables. It is not appropriate to have operators on this course as they are unlikely to understand its intricacies. Other training to be attended is Query Wizard.
